LOCATION

Huka Lodge is located in Taupo, in the central North Island of New Zealand. The central plateau enjoys a gentle climate, a leisurely pace and spectacular landscape. Snow-capped volcanic mountain peaks, wild tussock, green and lush wilderness, the clear blue waters of lakes and streams. So many features reminiscent of other landscapes and other lands, are all contained within this one area. The Lodge’s central location ensures you are never far from areas of interest. A ten-minute drive takes you to the township of Taupo, or a one-hour drive to nearby geothermal Rotorua. A journey through New Zealand from either north or south, will pass through Taupo offering the opportunity to experience superb hospitality at Huka Lodge.

SUITES & LODGES

Huka Lodge offers accommodation within 18 Junior Lodge Suites, one Lodge Suite, the four-bedroom Owner’s Cottage and the two-bedroom Alan Pye Cottage. Junior Lodge Suites and Lodge Suites are true retreats in every sense, harmonious and deliberately simple in approach. Designed to allow the beauty of the landscape to dominate, while providing layers of well appointed luxury. Large french doors open onto the wooden terrace and face the beautiful turquoise green waters of the Waikato River. Large dressing rooms and bathrooms offer lots of natural light and are spacious to ensure you feel at home during your stay. Junior Lodge Suite works really well for for families travelling together – the second bedroom can readily be configured for two younger family members to share with single beds and their own bathroom.

The Alan Pye Cottage defines the fine tradition of generous hospitality and elegant living established by Alan Pye and his wife at Huka Lodge 90 years ago. A legacy that drives us to this day to continue to find more ways to enhance the Huka Lodge experience for our guests, and to make it truly extraordinary. One of Charlotte Travel's favourite cottages in New Zealand, the Alan Pye Cottage features a magnificent open plan living room, with an open fireplace features a very high ceiling, floor-to-ceiling opening doors facing the river and the infinity style swimming pool on one side and the enclosed courtyard garden and outdoor pavilion, two large guest suites with ensuite and individual fireplaces, a well-equipped kitchen for guests or personal chefs to use, a private spa pool and a fabulous stone outdoor pavilion within a private courtyard garden, featuring a magnificent fireplace.

The Owner’s Cottage sits on an elevated and sunny promontory above the spectacular Waikato River. Virtually completely hidden from view, this secluded retreat enjoys stunning views downstream to the mighty Huka Falls. Complete with four ensuite rooms, all with super-king sized beds, comfortable chairs and a fireplace in your bedroom. Two of which face the river while the other two enjoy a beautiful private courtyard gardens with outdoor fireplaces. On top of the large outdoor deck with an amazing cantilevered infinity pool, the grounds within the Owner's Cottage also feature a heated spa pool, a well-equipped kitchen for guests or personal chefs and a Den decked out with a workstation, computer, plasma screen television, DVD player and extremely comfortable leather chairs.
