Ulusaba means “place of little fear”. That’s because the koppie where Rock Lodge sits provided the ancient Shangaan warriors with the perfect lookout point. Spend time at Rock Lodge and you’ll be flying with the eagles, or take a walk on the wild side back down to earth at Safari Lodge.

LOCATION

In the Sabi Sand Reserve bordering Kruger National Park, nearly 500 metres away is Safari Lodge, known as 'Heaven on Earth'. Built along the banks of a dry riverbed, Safari Lodge guests cross swing bridges between the exquisite tree house style rooms. For the ultimate experience, guests can share their time between both lodges.

SUITES & LODGES 

21 rooms and suites spread over two lodges. Rock Lodge is 'Heaven in Heaven', perched high on the summit of a koppie with views over the South African bush below. 

Rock Lodge has the best view in the Sabi Sand – and we promise we’re not biased! Perched high on the summit of a koppie, with panoramic views over miles of bush, grab a pair of binoculars to see what you can spot. Within Rock Lodge is Cliff Lodge a two bedroom suite, perfect for some added privacy. Both Rock and Cliff Lodge are ideal for families with children of all ages who are welcome to join our Cub’s Club.

Safari Lodge is built along the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed and some of the rooms are built ‘tree house’ style and you really get the feeling of being in the heart of life in the bush. Your room will provide fascinating views of the animals as they stroll past on their way to the nearby watering hole.

HIGHLIGHTS

Great for couples as well as families, when not occupied on a walking safari or twice daily game drive, take a dip in the swimming pools or indulge in a spa treatment. For the more active, there are tennis courts and gyms available. Try a few South African wines from the wine cellar and after dinner enjoy a spot of stargazing at the bush observatory.

At Ulusaba, kids up to 11 years old can stay at Rock Lodge and are invited to join the Cub's Club. Ulusaba offers a range of activities tailored to each child or group together with Cub's cuisine. Babysitting is complimentary and run by experienced staff members. All Cubs will be given a Cub's Club Backpack full of little goodies to entertain and educate them about the African Bush.

You can now incorporate a volunteering experience into your stay at Ulusaba. Bespoke itineraries can be created to participate in hands-on projects within the local communities, based around your own skills and interests. Not only will this create an opportunity to experience the local culture it'll provide a way in which you can perhaps give a little something back to others.
